Manchester Landfill Catches Fire – Hartford Courant
A fire broke out at a remote landfill on Olcott Street in Manchester around 5 a.m. Friday, according to the Manchester Fire Department. Fire officials described it as a “moderate-sized fire at the top of the landfill stack,” in a Facebook post Friday. Fire Chief Daniel French said debris from the landfill was on fire. Firefighters requested an additional water tanker from the Glastonbury Fire Department and the effort required about 6,000 gallons of water before Public Works arrived with equipment to turn and rebury the material. The first busload of migrants sent from Texas by Gov. Greg Abbott arrived in New York City Friday morning. The group was dropped off at the Port Authority bus terminal in Manhattan after making the nearly 2,000-mile journey from the border in footage captured by Fox News.
