TO ENTER<\/span><\/p>\n Oregon Department of Emergency Management open<\/a> misting stations and cooling shelters overnight Tuesday to help residents cope with the dangerous heat.<\/p>\n Oregon Gov. Kate Brown on Tuesday declared a state of emergency for 25 of the state’s counties until July 31.<\/p>\n “With many parts of Oregon facing an elevated heat wave, it is critical that all levels of government have the necessary resources to help keep Oregonians safe and healthy,” Brown said in a statement<\/a> “I encourage everyone to take proactive steps to keep themselves and their families safe, including drinking plenty of fluids, taking advantage of cooling centers and checking in with neighbors, friends and loved ones.”<\/p>\n According to a 2021 study, heat waves in the Pacific Northwest would be “virtually impossible” without human-caused climate change.<\/p>\n Siblings Athena and Aremis Shepard hit the water in Hansville, Wa., as temperatures began to rise in the Northwest, on July 25, 2022.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Meegan M.
