The TotalEnergies driver crashed into the fans at high speed as they lined up along a cobbled street during stage 5 between Lille and Arenberg. <\/p>\n

Footage shows Oss being knocked off balance after clipping a fan before colliding with another who is leaning in to film the race with a phone. <\/p>\n

“Daniel Oss is therefore forced to withdraw from the Tour de France… The whole team wishes you a speedy recovery Daniel.” <\/p>\n

There were several crashes, though not all serious, during Wednesday’s Stage 5 as riders ran on cobblestones.<\/p>\n

The Italian rider was somehow able to finish the stage despite the crash, which also involved two other riders being taken down behind him. <\/p>\n

During last year’s race, a fan caused a major accident after standing in front of the racing pack with a cardboard sign, which appeared to display a message for the television cameras. The woman in question was later identified and arrested by the authorities. <\/p>\n

Slovenia’s Tadej Pogacar is now the current leader of the Tour after winning the sixth stage.<\/p>\n
