RONALD TOWNSHIP, Michigan — <\/span>An SUV driven by an alleged drunken driver plowed into a group of bicyclists participating in a charity event in west Michigan, killing two men and seriously injuring at least three others, authorities said.<\/p>\n The vehicle crossed a center line in Ionia County on Saturday and struck the bicyclists on a rural road, the sheriff’s office said.<\/p>\n “The impact caused critical injuries to all bicyclists and emergency responders worked diligently to preserve the lives of the victims,” \u200b\u200bthe sheriff’s office said.<\/p>\n Two men died. The three survivors had serious injuries. All were from the eastern part of the state.<\/p>\n They were participating in a three-day endurance ride for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the sheriff’s office said.<\/p>\n The driver was taken to the county jail. No name has been released.<\/p>\n “Our staff and the entire Make-A-Wish family are heartbroken and offer our deepest condolences to the runners involved, their loved ones” and others who participated in the event, the group said.<\/p>\n
