Judge orders Sen. Lindsey Graham to testify before special grand jury in Trump election probe <\/span><\/p>\n ATLANTA \u2014 A Fulton County judge has ordered U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, RSC, to testify before a special grand jury in Fulton County next month.<\/p>\n Graham is one of eight jurors named last week. Graham said he would fight the subpoena.<\/p>\n On Monday, the judge declared Graham a “necessary witness” in the investigation.<\/p>\n This is another step in a long legal process to get Graham to come down from Washington to testify.<\/p>\n That new order says the grand jury must hear about Graham’s two alleged phone calls to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.<\/p>\n In the order, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney said the “court finds Lindsey Graham to be a necessary and material witness” in the special grand jury investigation into possible criminal interference in the 2020 election. from Georgia<\/p>\n The new order also requires Graham to testify in August.<\/p>\n The grand jury subpoenaed Graham while also subpoenaing former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani and others who were at a Senate State Subcommittee hearing in December 2020.<\/p>\n “Excuse me, Mr. Mayor. Can you talk about what you are going to testify about today?\u201d Channel 2 political reporter Richard Elliot asked Giuliani at the time.<\/p>\n “Not now,” Giuliani said.<\/p>\n RELATED STORIES<\/p>\n It was there that Giuliani and the others first leveled allegations of massive voter fraud in Fulton County \u2014 allegations that were proven false by multiple state and federal investigations.<\/p>\n But the new order said the grand jury wants more information about two phone calls Graham allegedly made to Raffensperger asking him to begin “reexamining certain absentee ballots cast in Georgia to explore the possibility of a more favorable outcome for to former President Donald.” Trump.”<\/p>\n Graham is fighting the subpoena and last week accused Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis of playing politics and working with the Jan. 6 committee.<\/p>\n “My query and the one on January 6 are not the same,” Willis said in an exclusive interview last week.<\/p>\n Willis said he hoped Graham would change his mind and come forward to testify willingly.<\/p>\n “I hope that Senator Graham will have a moment of quiet reflection and decide to present truthful testimony before this grand jury that wants to hear from him on some very important issues,” Willis said.<\/p>\n Graham is ordered to testify on August 2.
