PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they have hired former Pittsburgh Penguins CEO David Morehouse as a senior advisor to the team president.<\/p>\n

“We are excited to have David join the Pittsburgh Steelers,” said Steelers President Art Rooney II. “He was very successful during his tenure with the Pittsburgh Penguins, guiding them to a championship-caliber team both on the ice and in their community efforts. He will help us in many areas of the Pittsburgh community and Acrisure Stadium, as well as assisting in many NFL initiatives involving the Pittsburgh Steelers. We are thrilled to have David continue his success with the Steelers.”<\/p>\n
Morehouse will focus on community and league-related initiatives in the newly created role, according to the Steelers.<\/p>\n

“This is an exciting day for me and my family,” Morehouse said in a statement. \u201cI have spent my entire life watching and rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the greatest and most respected franchises in all of professional sports.<\/p>\n
“During my time with the Penguins, I tried to learn from the Steelers and incorporate many of the things that Art II and his family have done with the team. It was an honor to work for great Penguins owners Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle, and now I have the opportunity to work for Art and the Rooney family. It’s a dream come true for a Pittsburgh kid,” Morehouse continued.<\/p>\n
Morehouse stepped down from his role as Penguins CEO on April 27 after 16 years with the team. He was a consultant on the PPG Paints Arena project in 2004 before becoming team president in 2007. He was given CEO responsibilities when the new arena opened in August 2010.<\/p>\n
Morehouse also won three Stanley Cups with the Penguins in 2009, 2016 and 2017.<\/p>\n
