An East Haven bar where a fatal shooting took place last week had its liquor license suspended Tuesday, according to Connecticut Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle H. Seagull.<\/p>\n
The East Haven Police Department on Monday referred BullsEye Billiards & Bar, located at 655 Main St., East Haven, to the Department of Consumer Protection’s Liquor Control Division in connection with Saturday’s fatal shooting , according to the DPC.<\/p>\n
Julius Bolden-Lowe, 26, died at Yale New Haven Hospital after suffering a gunshot wound on Saturday, Aug. 6, police said. Officers arrived at Bullseye Billiards early Saturday morning after receiving a report of a shooting.<\/p>\n
Police said the shooting happened after an altercation inside the bar turned physical.<\/p>\n
The state agency said the shooting also resulted in “critical injuries to a bystander.”<\/p>\n
According to the consumer protection agency, East Haven Police Chief Edward Lennon Jr. described a “pattern of incidents involving violent behavior” on the premise dating back to June 6, 2021 .Lennon “noted 62 additional case numbers representing times when police officers were assigned.” on the premise at closing time “in an effort to deter illegal and\/or violent activity,” DPC said in a statement.<\/p>\n
“My condolences to the friends and family who lost a loved one in this unfortunate incident,” Seagull said in the statement. “It is clear from repeated incidents that this premise is not operating in a manner that prioritizes the health and safety of its customers, neighbors and community. Thank you to the East Haven Police Department for their investigation into this most recent incident . The immediate suspension and closure of this establishment is necessary to prevent any further violent incidents.”<\/p>\n
BullsEye Billiards & Bar is to remain closed until further notice, according to DPC.<\/p>\n
