New cases of COVID-19 in Jackson and Josephine counties trended down over the past week, mirroring a general trend for the state.<\/p>\n
The Oregon Health Authority reported 310 new cases in Jackson County over the past week, with a daily average of 44.3 cases. The previous week, the daily average was 57.3 cases.<\/p>\n
The OHA reported 137 new cases of COVID-19 in Josephine County over the past week, with a daily average of 19.6 cases. The daily average of the previous week was 27.6 cases.<\/p>\n
Statewide, OHA reported 6,164 new cases last week, with a daily average of 880.6 cases. This is lower than the previous week’s daily average of 1,198.7 cases.<\/p>\n
The OHA said 16 Oregonians died of causes related to COVID-19 in the past week, including one Jackson County resident and one Josephine County resident.<\/p>\n
The community risk level for both counties was in the medium category, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n
In medium-risk conditions, people at high risk for serious illness from COVID-19 should talk to their health care providers about whether they should wear a mask and take other precautions, the CDC advises.<\/p>\n
Everyone should be up to date on their COVID-19 vaccines and get tested if they have symptoms, the CDC recommends.<\/p>\n
