Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison today defended holding three additional Cabinet portfolios in secret while in power.<\/p>\n

He called into Ben Fordham’s 2GB radio show this morning, insisting he had to take “unprecedented” measures during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

“It was a safeguard in terms of how we were making decisions, you know, at a pretty extraordinary time,” he said.<\/p>\n

He added that it was an “oversight” not to inform all cabinet colleagues affected by his additional portfolio responsibilities.<\/p>\n

“I think sometimes we forget what was going on two years ago and the situation we were dealing with, it was a very unprecedented time,” Morrison said.<\/p>\n

“We were facing unprecedented times and we had to take unconventional … extraordinary measures.”<\/p>\n
