Add the entire University of Michigan football team to the list of college athletes taking their name, image and likeness into their own hands.<\/p>\n
With players releasing a breaking news note Tuesday on Twitter and social media, the Wolverines’ 2022 football roster announced the launch of the new Ann Arbor NIL Club.<\/p>\n
“Our team has come together to launch the Ann Arbor NIL Club,” according to the player’s statement. “If you’re a fan looking to support our entire team, here’s how you can do it.”<\/p>\n
The social media post goes on to share that the AANC, as the players later refer to it, “allows fans to financially support and interact with our team.”<\/p>\n
The document reveals that the players’ new NIL company will distribute the funds “evenly” among the 110 players on the Wolverines’ roster; this number reflects not only Michigan’s scholarship players, but also its student-athletes.<\/p>\n
According to the players’ charter, AANC contributors\/members can “support our team financially and ensure we are a leader in the NIL era,” as well as participate in “recognition and Q&A exclusive with the players”.<\/p>\n
Perhaps a first of its kind for the growing number of such player-led NIL collectives, the Michigan players indicate they will participate in “film breakdowns” with AANC members, in addition to the coll contributors who have access to other content created by games. .<\/p>\n
The players also shared the AANC website<\/a>and the group’s official Twitter account has also been launched, with over 500 members and over $13,000 raised in just a few hours this afternoon. <\/p>\n
