The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash in Apopka this morning that left a motorcyclist with fatal injuries.<\/p>\n
According to the FHP report, at approximately 5:21 a.m., a garbage truck driven by a 51-year-old Apopka man was traveling southbound on Sheeler Avenue approaching State Route 436 on left turn lane. At the same time, a 1986 Yamaha XV1100 motorcycle, driven by a 57-year-old Orlando man, was also traveling northbound on SR-436.<\/p>\n
The motorist was proceeding north through the intersection when the garbage truck attempted to turn left to travel east on 436. As a result, the front of the garbage truck struck the front of the motorcycle.<\/p>\n
The motorcyclist was taken to AdventHealth Apopka, where he was pronounced dead. The garbage truck driver remained at the scene and did not report any injuries.<\/p>\n
The accident remains under investigation to determine which vehicle ran the green light.<\/p>\n
The FHP did not release the name of the dead driver or motorcyclist.<\/p>\n
