A boy died after being hit by a car Wednesday night in Bixby, police said.<\/p>\n

In an email to parents obtained by News On 6, Bixby Public Schools Superintendent Rob Miller identified the boy as Connor Rineheart, a fourth-grader at Central Intermediate.<\/p>\n

Bixby police sent out an alert asking drivers to avoid the area after they said a child was hit by a car shortly before 7 p.m. According to police, the accident happened at 169th Street and Highway 64.<\/p>\n

Connor, along with a brother and a friend, were crossing the road to go to a nearby store when he was hit, police said.<\/p>\n

Police said after the crash, EMSA took Connor to the emergency room, where he later died.<\/p>\n

The driver who hit him cooperated with police and was not arrested or charged, according to police.<\/p>\n
