NEW YORK <\/strong>— Rep. George Santos says he’s trying to “bring more commitment to public policy” with a bill named after rapper Nicki Minaj.<\/p>\n

CBS2 political reporter Marcia Kramer asked Santos about the legislation she has sponsored on this week’s episode of “The Point.”<\/p>\n

“So what is the MINAJ bill? The MINAJ law?” she asked.<\/p>\n

“So the MINAJ Act is a medical freedom bill. It was a creative way: that’s how politics works. Politics is boring,” Santos said.<\/p>\n

“Who is Minaj? Is she\u2026?” Kramer asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cNicki Minaj,\u201d Santos said.<\/p>\n

“That’s what I thought,” Kramer said.<\/p>\n

“Yes,” Santos said.<\/p>\n

The Law of 2023 on the Nuances of Liability Judgment of Medical Information (MINAJ).<\/a> is intended to “prohibit the Federal Government from imposing any mandate requiring a person to receive a vaccine that has not been authorized for marketing for at least 10 years, and for other purposes.”<\/p>\n

\u201cSo why name a bill [Nicki Minaj]?\u201d asked Kramer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, he was very pro-choice about the vaccine situation and I didn’t like the COVID-19 vaccine mandates<\/span>” Santos said, “and the reason I named the bill with some nuance was simply to make sure that we can get pop culture to meet politics and we can tap into the energy of a generation younger who does not necessarily enjoy politics or the laity. who don’t pay attention to politics and say, oh, politics don’t matter, but then you throw in some pop culture reference and you’re opening the doors to politics to a whole new window of people.”<\/p>\n

Santos added, “I’m trying to bring more involvement in public policy. Isn’t that good? You make it entertaining, Marcia, so people can stand watching C-SPAN because it’s boring… I can’t stand watching C-SPAN, I’ll answer that question.”<\/p>\n
