ANDOVER, Mass. \u2014 An 18-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries when he crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 93 in Andover Sunday night, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Officers responding to a report of a crash on the northbound side of the highway shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday found a Methuen driver in need of emergency medical treatment, according to Massachusetts State Police.<\/p>\n
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a Boston hospital.<\/p>\n
The freeway was closed for hours to allow the helicopter to land and investigate.<\/p>\n
The crash scene was cleared shortly before 1am<\/p>\n
A preliminary investigation suggested the victim was driving at a high rate of speed before crashing into the back of the tractor, according to state police.<\/p>\n
The accident remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
