Jimmy Buffett has canceled an upcoming concert in South Carolina after being hospitalized earlier this week. <\/p>\n

In a statement, Buffett said he returned from a trip from the Bahamas on Tuesday and was “scrambling to get to Charleston” when he stopped in Boston, Mass., for what he described as a checkup. However, he later “returned to the hospital to address some issues that needed immediate attention.” <\/p>\n

The “Margaritaville” singer, 76, did not say what those issues were. <\/p>\n

“Getting old is not for sissies, I promise,” he wrote. <\/p>\n

Buffett said he would reschedule the concert when he was “well enough to perform.” A statement on their website said tickets purchased would be honored on the new date. <\/p>\n

In 2022, Buffett rescheduled tour dates<\/span> due to health problems and a “short hospitalization”. These tour dates were supposed to take place in late 2022 and were rescheduled for 2023. <\/p>\n

In 2020, he spoke to \u201cCBS Sunday morning<\/a>” about continuing to act even at age 70. <\/p>\n

“At 73, you know, I look forward to the people I know now,” he said. “You know, we just lost one who was a dear friend and a great inspiration, Carl Reiner, at the age of 98. That’s who I look up there … And then I’ll look at the 80 years that they’re still doing it. And I look at the 70 years they’re still doing it.” <\/p>\n

“That’s who I’m seeing,” he added. “And working seems to be the magic elixir when you’re lucky enough to be an entertainer or to do things that you can still do at that age.”<\/p>\n

In his note to fans, Buffett thanked fans for their support over the decades.<\/p>\n

“You all make my life more meaningful and full than I could have ever imagined it to be [tow] head boy sitting on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico,” he wrote. “Thank you for your prayers and thoughts, your incredible years of loyalty, and just remember, ‘NOT YET!'”<\/p>\n
