{"id":20990,"date":"2023-05-22T17:13:47","date_gmt":"2023-05-22T17:13:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news24feed.com\/?p=20990"},"modified":"2023-05-22T17:13:48","modified_gmt":"2023-05-22T17:13:48","slug":"da-identifies-man-killed-in-pedestrian-crash-in-fitchburg-boston-25-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news24feed.com\/?p=20990","title":{"rendered":"DA identifies man killed in pedestrian crash in Fitchburg &#8211; Boston 25 News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">FITCHBURG, Mass. &#8211; Authorities have identified the man who died in a pedestrian accident in Fitchburg Friday evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">Mario Bratkon, 76, of Fitchburg, was struck and killed while walking in a crosswalk in the area of \u200b\u200bWater and Nichols streets around 8:45 p.m. Friday, according to the district attorney.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">A preliminary investigation found that a Toyota Corolla traveling eastbound on Water Street struck Bratkon, who was in the crosswalk, state police said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">Bratkon was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, where he was pronounced dead.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">The driver of the Toyota was not injured and remained at the scene after the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">The crash remains under investigation by Fitchburg Police, Leominster Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team along with investigators from the Worcester County District Attorney&#8217;s Office .<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">This is a developing story.
