MANCHESTER, NH – Authorities have opened an investigation after an officer-involved shooting in Manchester, New Hampshire, that left one man dead Friday morning.<\/p>\n
Officers responding to a 911 call reporting a person armed with a firearm at 1143 Mammoth Road shortly before 3:30 a.m. encountered the individual in question outside a house in an apartment complex and opened fire, according to the New Hampshire attorney. General John M. Formella.<\/p>\n
“Manchester police officers shot and ultimately killed this individual,” New Hampshire Senior Assistant Attorney General Scott Chase told Boston 25.<\/p>\n
Authorities provide update after man shot, killed by police in New Hampshire <\/span><\/p>\n Chase noted that life-saving measures were attempted, but the armed resident died from his injuries.<\/p>\n The person’s identity has not been released. An autopsy has been scheduled for later today.<\/p>\n Video from the scene showed a large section of the complex cordoned off with yellow police tape, a large amount of evidence markers strewn across the ground and several officers roaming the grounds.<\/p>\n Shooting in Manchester, New Hampshire <\/span><\/p>\n No officers or other residents were injured in the incident and authorities say there is no threat to the public.<\/p>\n “In accordance with protocol, the names of the officers involved in the incident are being withheld pending the conclusion of formal interviews,” Formella’s office added. “The officers who initially responded had body-worn cameras.”<\/p>\n Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg added, “We are fully cooperating in this investigation with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office … We are pleased that a young man has just lost his life. I am also focused in the fact that my officers were involved in this shooting and I’m also concerned about their mental health.”<\/p>\n The officer-involved shooting is the third in Manchester in the last year.<\/p>\n When asked about the shootings, Aldenberg said he was “not concerned about the actions” of his officers in the previous two incidents.<\/p>\n The exact circumstances of Friday’s incident remain under investigation. More details are expected to be released after the autopsy is completed.<\/p>\n This is a developing story.
