DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – A DeKalb County woman fears for her safety after she says a man posing as a maintenance worker broke into her home while she slept just feet away.<\/p>\n
Nina Alford told Channel 2’s Veronica Griffin that she and her 13-year-old son were asleep in their home at the Avana City North Apartments early Thursday morning. She says her son woke up to find a man looking around the apartment.<\/p>\n
“When he woke up, he said the boy saw him sitting up. That’s when he walked by his room and said, ‘Hey, I’m done,'” Alford said.<\/p>\n

Alford says he hadn’t asked for any reparations. The apartment manager confirmed to Alford that no one had been sent to his apartment.<\/p>\n
After the man left, she realized her purse had been turned inside out and her credit and debit cards and car keys were gone.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was scared, I was upset, I was angry. He talked to my son, so I had various emotions,” she described. “I’m very angry.”<\/p>\n
Shortly after leaving, Alford received an alert that someone tried to use his debit card at a nearby store. <\/p>\n

He says detectives told him he was far from the robber’s only victim. <\/p>\n
Alford also told Channel 2 Action News that detectives called her Friday night and told her they had the suspect in custody. The police have not confirmed this arrest.<\/p>\n
When asked what’s next for her, Alford shared her plans.<\/p>\n
“On the move,” she replied. “I won’t stay here\u2026I don’t feel safe.”<\/p>\n
