{"id":21973,"date":"2023-05-27T17:25:04","date_gmt":"2023-05-27T17:25:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news24feed.com\/?p=21973"},"modified":"2023-05-27T17:25:06","modified_gmt":"2023-05-27T17:25:06","slug":"arlington-pd-investigates-after-multiple-pedestrians-hit-vehicle-in-stop-shop-parking-lot-boston-25-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news24feed.com\/?p=21973","title":{"rendered":"Arlington PD investigates after multiple pedestrians hit vehicle in Stop &#038; Shop parking lot &#8211; Boston 25 News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">ARLINGTON, Mass &#8211; Arlington police are investigating a crash in which several pedestrians were hit by a vehicle in the Stop &#038; Shop parking lot<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">According to Arlington Police Chief Julie Flaherty, officers responded to an accident at the Stop and Shop located at 905 Massachusetts Ave around 10:16 am. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">Upon arrival, officers found several injured people in the parking lot, and Arlington police and firefighters began administering emergency medical care. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">The initial investigation shows that a 2005 Mercury Marquis driven by an 87-year-old Belmont man was entering the Stop and Shop parking lot when it struck an occupied parked vehicle and an exterior wall of the building.  The man then backed up and struck several pedestrians. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">Two pedestrians, a 61-year-old Arlington woman and a 70-year-old Randolph man were taken to area hospitals.  The driver of the Mercury was treated at the scene and taken to an area hospital. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">The owner of the parked vehicle, a woman from Harwich, was not injured. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">According to police, access to the parking lot will likely be disrupted for much of the afternoon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit (CARS) also responded to the scene to assist Arlington Police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">The Arlington Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash. <\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We are currently investigating an accident that occurred in the parking lot of Stop and Shop, 990 Mass Ave.  The car park is closed at this time, please avoid the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Arlington MA Police Department (@ArlingtonMAPD) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ArlingtonMAPD\/status\/1662488453559222273?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">May 27, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ImageMetadata__MetadataParagraph-sc-1gn0vty-0 gAFIWJ image-metadata\"><span class=\"title\">Arlington police are investigating the crash in the Stop &#038; Shop parking lot <\/span><span>Arlington police are investigating the crash in the Stop &#038; Shop parking lot <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">This is a developing story.
