U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was criticized and faced a partially hostile crowd during a town hall Friday where some participants were upset by the Democratic socialist lawmaker’s positions on Ukraine immigration funding and the debt limit .<\/p>\n
Speaking to constituents in Corona, Queens, the “Squad” member was interrupted several times as some booed and booed her, and her supporters in turn called out the protesters. <\/p>\n
“American citizens before migrants,” one man shouted as he walked toward Ocasio-Cortez holding small American flags. “Where are you on the migrant issue? You’re a piece of shit.”<\/p>\n

A man who said he was an Iraq War veteran tried to calm the crowd in support of the congresswoman. <\/p>\n “Immigrants have nothing to do with vets,” the man said, holding a microphone after Ocasio-Cortez allowed him to speak. “We’ve all come through Ellis Island. Things are different. Things change over time.”<\/p>\n During a discussion about the June 5 debt default deadline, Ocasio-Cortez stated that she believes the Biden administration should eliminate the debt limit. He has claimed that not raising the cap would cause massive chaos in the US economy. <\/p>\n “I don’t like that the Republicans passed a $1.7 trillion tax cut for the wealthiest people in this country,” he said at one point.<\/p>\n Protesters pointed out that the US has provided billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine. The Biden administration has provided Ukraine with nearly $40 billion in military aid since Russia invaded in late February 2022.<\/p>\n An angry protester calls out US Rep.
