FRAMINGHAM, Mass. \u2014 A house was destroyed and a cat is missing after a fire on Rhiner Street in Framingham on Memorial Day, firefighters said. <\/p>\n
“The house is a total loss,” Framingham Fire Chief Michael Dutcher said in a statement Monday. <\/p>\n
No injuries were reported. An elderly man was displaced but has family to stay with, Dutcher said.<\/p>\n
A neighbor called the fire department about 1:45 p.m. Monday to report the fire at 19 Rhiner St., Dutcher said. The street is off the water street.<\/p>\n
When firefighters arrived, they found “heavy fire that was visible from the front and rear upon arrival,” Dutcher said. <\/p>\n
“The crews did an excellent job pushing to put the fire out,” Dutcher said. <\/p>\n
Investigators were still searching for the family’s pet after the fire.<\/p>\n
“We’re still looking for a missing cat,” Dutcher said.<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.<\/p>\n
