ROCHESTER, NH – Police are searching for the driver involved in a crash that seriously injured a woman while she was walking and pushed an unoccupied stroller along Milton Road Friday night. <\/p>\n

Investigators are also seeking the public’s help in identifying the crash victim, whose identity is still unknown, police said Saturday. <\/p>\n

At about 10:22 p.m. Friday, Rochester police responded to Milton Road in the area of \u200b\u200bthe Hannaford store for a report of a person on the ground near the road, police said.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they found an unidentified woman unconscious on the ground with a head injury on the north side of Milton Road. <\/p>\n

An initial investigation found the woman had been walking north on Milton Road, pushing an unoccupied baby stroller when she was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling north on Milton Road, police said. The vehicle that hit the woman was not at the scene.<\/p>\n

The woman was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries, police said. The woman was wearing a purple shirt, blue sweatshirt, white pants and black shoes when the vehicle hit her.<\/p>\n

Police said the vehicle that struck the woman likely had damage on the front passenger side, with possible damage to the hood and windshield. <\/p>\n

Police on Saturday did not provide a further description of the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information about the woman’s identity, the damaged vehicle or the driver who fled the scene of the crash is asked to call Rochester police at 603-330-7128. <\/p>\n
