Jessica Chastain has no regrets about wearing a COVID-19 mask to the Oscars.<\/p>\n
The actress, 46, was seen wearing a face mask by TV viewers during the awards ceremony in March, but Jessica has now denied she was trying to make a political statement.<\/p>\n
Jessica, who began starring in ‘A Doll’s House’ on Broadway in February, told The Hollywood Reporter: “We were testing every day on our show, and even if you didn’t have any symptoms, if you tested positive for COVID , you were away from home. for a week, and I was met by people at the stage door who came from Shanghai and all over the world. To be away from the show for a week? It felt so irresponsible.<\/p>\n
“So I wore the mask to the Oscars. I got a lot of flak for that. A lot of people thought I was making some kind of political statement. I don’t know what they thought.”<\/p>\n
Jessica was afraid of catching COVID, but has managed to avoid the disease so far.<\/p>\n
She said: “I’ll tell you, the best thing is that somebody at the stage door gave me a mask that said, ‘I’m on Broadway.’ But yeah, the SAG Awards, the Oscars, a lot of people were like, ‘What are you doing?!’ I just couldn’t get sick. And I didn’t. I haven’t missed a show.”<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, Jessica celebrated attending the Golden Globes and making it out of the show without getting COVID.<\/p>\n
The Hollywood star took to Twitter after a fan pointed out that the mask-wearing actress did not contract the virus, unlike some of the other celebrity guests at the Globes.<\/p>\n
In response to the fan’s tweet, Jessica wrote: “[kiss emoji] Phew! [mask emoji] (sic)”<\/p>\n
