HOLDEN, Mass. – A suspect is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, in connection with an “arson” that destroyed a Holden home Tuesday night. <\/p>\n
Evan Kelley, 32, of Holden, was arraigned in Leominster District Court on multiple charges including arson, attempted murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person 60 years of age or older , threatening to commit a felony and malicious damage to a motor vehicle, according to Worcester District Attorney Joeseph Early.<\/p>\n
Firefighters responded to the area of \u200b\u200b25th Street at Juniper Lane shortly after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, where crews observed heavy fire engulfing portions of the basement and first floor of the home, officials said. <\/p>\n
According to the fire department, two alarms went off when several surrounding departments dispatched personnel to help put out the fire at the single-family home. The fire was brought under control and extinguished in about two hours, but the home suffered heavy fire and smoke damage, officials said. <\/p>\n
Man arrested for intentionally setting Holden home on fire, officials say <\/span><\/p>\n Authorities said two civilians were evaluated and treated while no firefighters were injured during the response. <\/p>\n After an investigation, officials determined the fire started in an attached garage and was intentionally set. <\/p>\n Kelley was arrested shortly after the initial call. <\/p>\n Kelley was held without bond pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for June 12.<\/p>\n This is a developing story.
