BOSTON – A Boston police officer was shot during a patrol incident near Clifford Park in Roxbury Friday night, Boston Police Commissioner Micheal Cox said.<\/p>\n
Police sources tell Boston 25 that the officer was hit in the foot and back.<\/p>\n
According to Cox, the officer approached a “robbery in progress” in the area of \u200b\u200b44 Cedric Street when the armed suspect shot the officer multiple times.<\/p>\n
Cox said two other officers were injured during the incident, but not by gunfire.<\/p>\n
“This just shows all the difficult work that our officers deal with on a daily basis,” Cox said during a news conference. “It’s so troubling in today’s world that, you know, these things happen.”<\/p>\n
The officer was transported to Boston Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to be OK, Cox said.<\/p>\n
