Donald Trump is back in custody after turning himself into a Miami court to face 37 charges over his handling of classified documents after leaving the White House, becoming the first current or former president to of the United States who faces federal criminal charges.<\/p>\n
The former president arrived for his arraignment in federal court in the Southern District of Florida just before 2pm ET for a 3pm hearing, along with co-defendant Walt Nauta. He has promised to plead not guilty to all charges. <\/p>\n
“I’m just going to say ‘not guilty.’ I didn’t do anything wrong,” he said on Boston’s WRKO radio show Monday.<\/p>\n
Despite his confidence, The Independent exclusively revealed that Trump was struggling to find lawyers willing to defend him in Florida.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Miami officials were bracing for protests outside the courthouse with Mayor Francis Suarez saying at a news conference that the city is enacting plans to “ensure that everyone has the right to peacefully express themselves and exercise their their constitutional rights” in an “obviously peaceful manner”. “.<\/p>\n
