Former President Donald Trump’s support among Republicans has not wavered amid news of his latest impeachment.\n<\/p>\n
Results of a recent national survey by Quinnipiac University <\/a>show that 53% of Republican and Republican-leaning voters support Trump over nine other Republican candidates, including Gov. Ron DeSantis.\n<\/p>\n DeSantis had the second-highest support among Republican voters, with 23% saying they preferred him as president.\n<\/p>\n On Thursday, Trump was indicted on 37 criminal charges related to the alleged mishandling of classified documents in the Southern District of Florida. During a court appearance in Miami on Tuesday, Trump pleaded not guilty<\/a> to the positions\n<\/p>\n “Despite the indictment in Miami, President Trump’s support among Republican and Republican-leaning voters is basically unchanged,” said Tim Malloy, political analyst for the Quinnipiac poll, which was conducted by telephone between 8 and on June 12.\n<\/p>\n \u201cWe finished this survey two days before the actual indictment, but people knew it was coming. [It] “It didn’t affect him at all,” Malloy said. “He remains very solid, clearly with his base and with his party.”\n<\/p>\n Malloy says Trump could lose support if more criminal charges are brought against him.\n<\/p>\n Even so, the results were largely unchanged from a Quinnipiac poll conducted in May<\/a>. That poll showed Trump with 56 percent support among Republican primary candidates, about a month after he was indicted in New York.\n<\/p>\n Trump has done it too pleaded not guilty<\/a> nearly three dozen criminal charges in Manhattan stemming from alleged hush money payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign. Trump and Daniels allegedly had an affair.\n<\/p>\n The margin of error for the June 8-12 Quinnipiac poll is 3.7 percentage points. Seven hundred Republican and Republican-leaning voters were interviewed in the poll.
