PITTSBURGH – The jury reached deliberations in the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting trial Thursday and returned to court Friday morning to continue.<\/p>\n

While jurors may still have questions, those could come in the penalty phase, which WPXI legal analyst Phil Dilucente says is far more critical for the defense than the past 12 days, and will likely be a longer period of time because there are so many experts expected to testify.<\/p>\n

We have a team of reporters inside the courthouse and we have live updates throughout the day.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 11:53 a.m.: Robert Bowers found guilty<\/h2>\n

Robert Bowers has been found guilty of all charges in the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.<\/p>\n

In the next phase of the trial, the jury will have to decide whether he is sentenced to life in prison or whether he will receive the death penalty.<\/p>\n

The court will meet again on June 26.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 11:20 am: The verdict is in<\/h2>\n

The verdict is in. It will be given in 30 minutes, according to the court.<\/p>\n

We are waiting for each of the 63 counts against Robert Bowers to be read.<\/p>\n

The jury deliberated for nearly five hours before reaching its decision.<\/p>\n

The judge asks the gallery not to give any emotional or vocal reaction to the verdict.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 10:38 a.m.: The judge responds<\/h2>\n

The judge replies that, unfortunately, he cannot answer that question. It is up to the jury to determine whether Bowers intended to kill.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 10:06 a.m.: The jury asks a question<\/h2>\n

There is a question from the jury. Jury asks for clarification on “attempted murder,” specifically, does Bowers need to know there was a person?<\/p>\n

The prosecution believes that the accused has knowledge that a person was there and\/or saw a person.<\/p>\n

The defense believes that yes, that Bowers must have known the person was there.<\/p>\n

The prosecution and defense are arguing the matter, citing several cases.<\/p>\n

The judge is pausing to reflect.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 9:18 a.m.: The jury resumes deliberations<\/h2>\n

The secretariat confirms that the jury began deliberations at 8:40 am<\/p>\n
