MIFFLINTOWN BOROUGH, Pa. – One Pennsylvania State Police trooper is dead and another was injured after a shooting in Juniata County.<\/p>\n
The incident began when Brandon Stine, 38, of Thompsontown, allegedly began shooting at patrol vehicles in the parking lot of the state police station in Lewistown around 11 a.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n
State troopers found Stine in the Mifflintown area around 12:45 p.m. Police say Stine began shooting at the officers. He shot and seriously wounded Lt. James A. Wagner. <\/p>\n
Wagner, 45, was taken to Penn State Health’s Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. It is listed in critical condition.<\/p>\n
Authorities found Stine again around 3 p.m. in the area of \u200b\u200bSwamp Road and Baumgardner Drive in Walker Township. An exchange of gunfire ensued between Stine and the troopers. During the exchange, Trooper Jacques F. Rougeau Jr., 29, was shot and killed. Stine also died during this incident.<\/p>\n

Rougeau Jr. was shot and killed while responding to an incident in Juniata County. <\/span>(WPXI\/WPXI)<\/p>\n Rougeau had been with the Pennsylvania State Police since June 2020 and Wagner had been enlisted since September 2002.<\/p>\n David Kennedy, president of the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association, issued a statement following the incident, saying:<\/p>\n “Pennsylvania has lost a hero as another fights for his life. The bravery of these soldiers and their loved ones will remain in our hearts forever.”<\/p>\n Gov.
