Susan Louise Lorincz will be charged with involuntary manslaughter with a firearm and an assault charge in the death of Ajike “AJ” Owens, State’s Attorney William “Bill” Gladson said Monday.<\/p>\n
A charge of second-degree murder requires prosecutors to prove “beyond a reasonable doubt the existence of a depraved mind toward the victim at the time of the murder.” . Gladson said <\/a>a <\/a>statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n “Depraved mind requires proof of hatred, malice, ill will or malice toward the victim at the time of the murder,” he said. “As deplorable as the defendant’s actions in this case were, there is insufficient evidence to prove this specific and required element of second-degree murder.” <\/p>\n Lorincz could face up to 30 years behind bars if convicted.<\/p>\n Lorincz, 58, had a long-running “neighborhood feud” with Owens over the mother’s children playing in a field near Lorincz’s home, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.<\/p>\n That feud culminated June 2, when authorities say Lorincz shot Owens, a 35-year-old mother of four, behind a closed door in Ocala. <\/p>\n This is a developing story.
