CHARLOTTE – A plane landed at Charlotte Douglas International Airport Wednesday morning without its landing gear extended, Delta Air Lines told Channel 9.<\/p>\n

Delta Flight 1092, a Boeing 717, left Atlanta at 7:25 a.m. for Charlotte.<\/p>\n

According to Delta, there were two pilots, three flight attendants and 96 passengers on board.<\/p>\n

The plane landed with the nose gear in the “up” position, the airline said, and the plane came to a safe stop on the runway.<\/p>\n

Customers and crew were taken off the plane and taken to the terminal on a bus.<\/p>\n

Airline officials are working with other officials at the Charlotte airport to move the plane off the runway.<\/p>\n

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people,” Delta said in a statement. “While this is a rare occurrence, Delta flight crews are trained extensively to safely handle many scenarios, and Flight 1092 landed safely with no reported injuries. Our next focus is to take care of our customers on this flight, including retrieving their bags and getting them to their final destinations safely. We apologize to our customers for their experience.”<\/p>\n

The runway where the plane landed was closed Wednesday until the plane could be moved.<\/p>\n

“The crew told us there was a problem with the landing gear and instructed us to review the safety information,” a passenger on the flight told Channel 9. “We came down once and then came back to go up. The second time it caught us but the landing was smooth. No noise or even loud. We were on our backs and maybe that’s why. Everyone evacuated on chutes. No injuries as far as I know. The crew and pilots were wonderful!”<\/p>\n
