Arizona’s Pinal County elections director has resigned after less than a year on the job, saying county supervisors had tried to politicize elections in the jurisdiction east of Phoenix.<\/p>\n
Pinal County confirmed Geraldine Roll’s resignation in a brief note posted online Tuesday, with County Manager Leo Lew thanking Roll for her service “during very difficult times and for the improvements she identified and began to implement “.<\/p>\n
The role could not be located Wednesday for comment.<\/p>\n

The region has a population of around 450,000 inhabitants.<\/p>\n County supervisors had recently expressed interest in a trial hand count of some 2022 ballots.<\/p>\n
