Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi announced a hiatus from touring on Tuesday amid his ongoing battle with Tourette’s syndrome. The announcement came after a clip of his appearance at the UK’s Glastonbury festival on Saturday went viral. <\/p>\n

In a statement, Capaldi said the decision to take a break was “the hardest decision of my life.”<\/p>\n

Capaldi, 26, opened by thanking the Glastonbury crowd “for singing when I needed to” when he appeared to be in the midst of a tic attack that left him unable to finish his smash single, “Someone You Loved”. The video of that performance went viral and generated a lot of support for the singer.<\/p>\n

“I am very sorry to inform you that I will be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I used to be able to enjoy every second of shows like this,” he added, “but the truth is, I’m still learning to adapt to the impact of my Tourette’s, and on Saturday it became clear that I have to spend -me. much more time to get my mental and physical health in order.”<\/p>\n

Capaldi said he felt “incredibly sorry” for fans who had planned to attend shows before the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Capaldi announced he would be canceling three weeks of shows ahead of the festival, apologizing to fans for the financial impact of the cancellations.<\/p>\n

“I need to take these three weeks to be Lewis from Glasgow a bit,” said the singer, clarifying that the last few months had taken their toll on him both mentally and physically.<\/p>\n

Before cancellation, Capaldi had been scheduled to do shows all over the world<\/a> from July to September, with most concert dates sold out. <\/p>\n
