BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. – A record-breaking fish has been caught in a popular Georgia lake.<\/p>\n

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources said Caleb McLure went out on Lake Allatoona earlier this week and caught what could be the largest in the lake’s history.<\/p>\n

The huge catch was just 5 feet long and weighed 27 pounds, four ounces.<\/p>\n

That weight easily topped the previous lake record by 15 pounds, officials said.<\/p>\n

Officials said this fish was just a few pounds shy of the current state record of 31 pounds, two ounces, which was caught last year.<\/p>\n
