{"id":29179,"date":"2023-07-03T15:21:14","date_gmt":"2023-07-03T15:21:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news24feed.com\/?p=29179"},"modified":"2023-07-03T15:21:15","modified_gmt":"2023-07-03T15:21:15","slug":"christmas-tree-stores-gearing-up-for-storewide-clearance-sales-boston-25-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news24feed.com\/?p=29179","title":{"rendered":"Christmas tree stores gearing up for storewide clearance sales &#8211; Boston 25 News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">MIDDLEBORO, Mass.  &#8211; Massachusetts-based Christmas Tree Shops is preparing for liquidation sales at all of its stores after defaulting on a loan financing its bankruptcy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">The discount home goods retailer, which had more than 80 locations in 20 states, announced in May that it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with plans to close a small number of underperforming stores.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">Christmas Tree Shops took out a $45 million bankruptcy loan, but creditors decided to terminate the loan after the company defaulted, in part because of worsening earnings, the Wall Street Journal reported. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/christmas-tree-shops-to-liquidate-all-stores-ea53da39?mod=hp_trending_now_article_pos3&#038;ns=prod\/accounts-wsj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">The company&#8217;s stakeholders have agreed to liquidate the approximately 70 remaining stores unless a buyer emerges in the near future, according to court documents obtained by the Journal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-tl066j-0 rQkyc body-paragraph\">The first Christmas Tree Shops location opened in 1970 in Yarmouth Harbor on Cape Cod.
