Daily global temperatures have been reached an unofficial record several times this week<\/a>by at least one metric, and prompted communities around the planet to take drastic measures to help people beat the heat.<\/p>\n A work stoppage in Beijing extended into this week after a string of days in which temperatures were above 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit).<\/p>\n In North Grenville, Ontario, the city repurposed hockey rinks into cooling centers as temperatures reached 32 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit) and felt like 38 degrees (100 degrees Fahrenheit ) with moisture.<\/p>\n And the US National Weather Service has issued heat warnings<\/a> for much of the continental US, they reported a number of heat-related hospitalizations<\/a> in Austin and San Antonio in Texas and recorded record temperatures in cities included Portland, Oregon<\/a>, Tampa, Florida<\/a> i El Paso, Texas<\/a>.<\/p>\n Associated Press photographers captured how people around the world endured \u2014 and in some cases suffered \u2014 the heat.<\/p>\n People dove into bodies of water in Ukraine, Turkey and Spain. Tourists in Rome and a man in Manila protected themselves from the sun with umbrellas. A security guard in Beijing and a construction worker in Nashville wiped sweat from their faces on days when the temperature exceeded 100 degrees.<\/p>\n And climate scientists he told the AP<\/a> that record heat is set to continue as the planet continues to warm.
