\n [Breaking news update, published at 4:47 p.m. ET]<\/strong>\n <\/p>\n \n One person was killed and three others were injured in a series of shootings in Queens, the New York Police Department announced Saturday afternoon.\n <\/p>\n \n The suspect, who was riding a scooter, was arrested, police said during a press conference.\n <\/p>\n \n [Original story, published at 4:18 p.m. ET]<\/strong>\n <\/p>\n \n New York police are investigating a series of shootings in Queens that left at least three people injured Saturday morning, authorities said.\n <\/p>\n \n Three people were shot at different locations within a 2-mile radius in Jamaica, a neighborhood in the borough of Queens, a New York Police Department spokesman told CNN.\n <\/p>\n \n The shootings began around 11:30 a.m. ET, and the three separate incidents happened within 20 minutes of each other, police said.\n <\/p>\n \n Authorities have not released any information about a suspect, but are holding a news conference at 4:30 PM ET about the shootings.\n <\/p>\n \n Police said all three victims were male.\n <\/p>\n \n Authorities received the first call around 11:28 a.m. A man in his 40s was shot multiple times in the back and taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.\n <\/p>\n \n The second shooting was reported about 10 minutes later, at 11:37 a.m. Another victim, a 63-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds, the NYPD said.\n <\/p>\n \n Police received a call about the third shooting at 11:40 a.m. Authorities did not provide information about the third victim.\n <\/p>\n \n Public transportation in the area has been detoured due to police activity, according to a tweet from New York City Metropolitan Transport Authority<\/a>.\n <\/p>\n \n This is a developing story and will be updated.\n <\/p>\n
