“Calendar Girls”<\/span> will be presented by Minot State’s Summer Theater beginning today, July 10, and continuing through Friday, July 14, in the newly renovated amphitheater. <\/p>\n Doors will open at 8:00 p.m. and the show will begin at 8:30 p.m. <\/p>\n Directed by Robert Hubbard, the play is based on a true story and film of the same name, and features a cast of local female talent. \u201cHe’s a real madman with occasional moments of surprising tenderness. I think the audience will laugh a lot, but they will also be moved.”<\/span> Hubbard said. <\/p>\n “Calendar Girls”<\/span> tells the story of a group of retired women who decide to raise money in an unusual way: by posing naked in a calendar. Once it goes public, the women become famous and their celebrity status strains their friendships to the breaking point. <\/p>\n “This story is a very sweet and beautiful depiction of friendship. There are some serious moments that definitely tug at the heartstrings, but there’s also a lot of joy that feels so genuine. I think audiences will be able to relate to these women and their follies within their own friendships.”<\/span> said actress Brittany Armstrong. <\/p>\n The show is not a musical to the music of Neil Sedaka nor will the actors be naked in the production. <\/p>\n Tickets are available by calling 858-3228 or ordering online at: www.msusummertheatre.com.
