DUANESBURGH, N.Y. (WABC) — <\/span>A New York State trooper was shot during a traffic stop.<\/p>\n

The driver of an SUV shot Trooper Richard Albert in the left arm Friday as he approached the vehicle in Duanesburg, Schenectady County.<\/p>\n

Albert returned fire just as the driver, Nelson Troche, turned the gun on himself.<\/p>\n

According to police, Troche was released from prison in March after serving 11 years for involuntary manslaughter.<\/p>\n

Doctors at the hospital treated and released Albert.<\/p>\n
