Wade ruling as part of an \u201cattack\u201d by the \u201cradical left\u201d on the independence of the court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast night a shocking, shocking new breach, somebody \u2013 likely somebody inside the court itself \u2013 leaked a confidential internal draft to the press, almost certainly in an effort to stir up an inappropriate pressure campaign to sway an outcome,\u201d McConnell said on the Senate floor Tuesday.<br \/>\nOn Monday, Politico published a draft opinion from the court written earlier this year, outlining why the majority of justices felt that both Roe, the 1973 decision that guaranteed constitutional protections of abortion rights, and 1992&#8217;s Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which affirmed it, were wrongly decided.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Justice John Roberts confirmed the authenticity of the draft Tuesday and ordered an investigation into the leak. The opinion could yet change and will not be final until it is published. The official ruling is expected sometime before the end of the term in June.<\/p>\n<p>As written, the opinion would allow states to determine whether abortion should be legal.
