{"id":7337,"date":"2022-05-19T15:59:34","date_gmt":"2022-05-19T15:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news24feed.com\/early-research-shows-people-of-color-most-likely-to-develop-long-covid-nih-expert-says-may-2022\/"},"modified":"2022-05-19T15:59:34","modified_gmt":"2022-05-19T15:59:34","slug":"early-research-shows-people-of-color-most-likely-to-develop-long-covid-nih-expert-says-may-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news24feed.com\/?p=7337","title":{"rendered":"Early research shows people of color most likely to develop long COVID, NIH expert says | May 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hhrSa8c9Tj8\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>According to early research, people of color are the likeliest to develop long COVID, a top health expert told lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re seeing trends toward who\u2019s most affected, and again, it\u2019s identifying people of color \u2013 African Americans, Latinos \u2013 as a high prevalence group developing long COVID,\u201d said Dr. Gary Gibbons, director of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, during a May 18 Senate Appropriations Committee hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Gibbons said there were indications that the severity of a COVID case also affected the likelihood of the chances of getting long COVID.
