While California fire agencies had their hands full battling the explosive McKinney fire in Siskiyou County, Oregon Department of Forestry crews scrambled to chase reports of smoke after wildfires in the area from Butte Falls. ODF, along with US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management resources, responded to eight reports of light smoke in northeast Jackson County, called the Midnight Complex. Tampa Police Department detectives are conducting a homicide investigation in Centennial Park today. Police said officers were called to the park at 1800 E. 8th Ave. at 6:53 a.m., where they found a man dead with “trauma to the upper body,” the department said in a news release. “The preliminary investigation suggests that this was not a random incident and that the suspect and victim knew each other,” the press release states. “Detectives are currently working to develop additional leads in the case.” Police said anyone with information about the case can call them at 813-231-6130. Authorities said they arrested a 43-year-old man this week after discovering illegal drugs, a firearm and thousands of dollars in cash during a traffic stop. In a statement, Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said Criminal Patrol officers initiated a traffic stop on a Dodge Charger “for traffic violations” on Magnolia Beach Road.
