MEDFORD, Ore. — A series of grass fires along Interstate 5 were finished burning by 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) Southwest District says the largest fire is contained to about a quarter acre and firefighters are mopping up each incident. The ODF says: “We have launched reconnaissance aircraft further north and so far have not found any new fire. We will continue to monitor these areas throughout the day.” He says the cause is under investigation and is likely vehicle-related. Waterbury social club owner killed in shooting; man charged with murder – Hartford Courant
The owner of a Waterbury social club was killed in a shooting outside the club Saturday night, and police have charged another Waterbury man with murder. Dennis Santos, the 51-year-old owner of the Salsa Tropical Social Club at 406 Watertown Ave., arrived at a Waterbury hospital Saturday night with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the hospital around 11:40 p.m., according to the Waterbury Police Department. A man and a woman died Sunday morning after a crash on OK-9 in Caddo County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Authorities said Benjamin Horse, 45, and Robin Gomez, 38, were pronounced dead at the scene near County Road 1330 in Fort Cobb, Okla., by medical examiners.
