New York state trooper recovering after shooting on I-88 in Duanesburg
A suspect accused of shooting a state trooper has died, state police said. The suspect, Nelson Troche, 32, of Schenectady, is believed to have shot himself. He was taken to Albany Medical Center and pronounced dead. All lanes of I-88 have now reopened, New York State Police said. Meanwhile, the soldier who was shot, Richard Albert, is recovering. The Tuscaloosa County Violent Crimes Unit has arrested 41-year-old Dustin Jermaine Lavender. Lavender is charged with attempted murder, receiving stolen property and prohibited from carrying firearms to a certain person (felon in possession of a gun). Tuscaloosa Police were called to the 3200 block of Stillman Blvd shortly after 3pm to respond to a shooting.
