CHARLOTTE – Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers were involved in a shooting Friday afternoon in south Charlotte, the department announced on Twitter. The shooting happened in St. Croix Lane, which is located in the Raintree neighborhood, west of Providence Road. The Medford City Council voted unanimously Thursday to begin crystallizing rules for the implementation of Measure 109, which allows the therapeutic use of the psychedelic psilocybin mushroom starting next year. Chesterfield County, SC – At least eight students were taken to a hospital after a Chesterfield County school bus was involved in a crash Friday afternoon east of Jefferson, according to school officials. A New Heights school bus was reported to have been involved in a collision just before 4pm on McCaskill Road near Angelus Road. At the time of the accident, it was carrying 24 students, according to school officials. A New Jersey man turned himself into Connecticut State Police Thursday night in connection with a crash in Woodbridge that killed his wife, another woman and injured five in August 2021. Juan Fernandez, 38, of Union City, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with two counts of negligent homicide, four counts of second-degree assault, first-degree reckless driving, three counts of risk of injury to a minor, three counts of failure to use child restraint, speeding and failure to maintain lane, according to state police.
