Local farmers and ranchers can learn techniques for operating in drought conditions in a series of workshops with site visits starting Tuesday.
Each of the four workshops runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and costs $20, or $70 for the entire series. Prior registration is required beav.es/ina.
The first, scheduled for Tuesday, covers no-till, low-till and rainfed farming techniques at the Southern Oregon Research & Extension Center teaching farm.
Tikkun Olam Farm will host a workshop on September 6 on waxing and regenerative farming practices.
Learn about keyline design, drip irrigation and water catchment systems, including headwaters, on September 20 at Wolf Gulch Farm.
Martin Family Ranch will host a workshop on September 27 on drought strategies for pastures.
The series is made possible by a partnership between the Oregon State University Extension Service’s Small Farms program, Our Family Farms and the Jackson Soil & Water Conservation District.
