A Cañon City woman is in custody after she falsely reported an explosive device Monday. Cañon City Police Commander Elliott VanDyke said that around noon Monday, employees at an agency located in the 3200 block of Justice Center Road asked police to investigate a suspicious package. When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with a woman inside the facility who was carrying an unknown black bag. Because of statements made by witnesses, officers arrested Janel Armstrong, 48, for false report of an explosive device, third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal tampering.
