A Walker man who authorities say stole $600 in goods from a Hammond hardware store has been arrested, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office. In a statement, Chief Jimmy Travis said Albany city authorities arrested 36-year-old Jonathan Dale Pierson on Friday, charging him with being a fugitive from Tangipahoa Parish. On Saturday, the Boone County Cancer Society (BCCS) raised about $89,000 at its 15th annual Barbecue Battle. The cooking competitors arrived as early as 7am to begin smoking the pork loins donated by 7M’s Lebanon IGA. As hungry attendees began to line up, barbecue smoke filled the south end of Memorial Park.
