ANDOVER, Mass. – Authorities have closed both sides of Interstate 93 in Andover after a serious crash that resulted in fatal injuries Sunday night, state police said. A medical helicopter landed on the highway at the scene of the crash, state police tweeted shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday. The number of those injured and the extent of their injuries were not immediately known Sunday night. Investigators are on the scene. Further details were not immediately available. PITTSBURGH – A man was hospitalized after a shooting in Pittsburgh. Allegheny County dispatchers say police and medics were called to Amanda Street and Loyal Way in Allentown around 7:09 p.m. Police say they found a man suffering from a shoulder injury when they arrived. Officers also investigated a vehicle that had been hit by gunfire. The vehicle that was shot appeared to have collided with another vehicle, which had to be towed from the scene. MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. — A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle Sunday evening on Route 28 in Middleborough, police said. Police received several calls at 7:23 p.m. that a child was hit by a car on East Grove Street (Route 28) in front of the Hannaford supermarket. When officers arrived, they found the 15-year-old boy injured, police said. He was treated at the scene and flown by medical helicopter to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence. A St. Petersburg man accused of stabbing a woman to death in an alley is now accused of committing two rapes, including one in a cemetery, in the year before the murder. Tommy Stephens, 52, was arrested in March in connection with the stabbing death of 34-year-old Jona Waller. Police said he ran into her in an alley south of 255 37th Street N on March 17 and stabbed her to death. His body was found later that day. Stephens was arrested a week later on a charge of murder.
