WATCH: Rep. Liz Cheney previews future hearings in closing statement | Jan. 6 hearings

At a hearing by the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack, Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., offered a preview of future evidence in her closing statement.

She characterized the June 13 hearing as “very narrowly focused” and said that the next public presentations would move on to former President Donald Trump’s broader plans regarding Jan. 6, as well as his efforts to “corrupt the Department of Justice.”

Monday’s hearing was the second of several planned by the Jan. 6 committee that focused on how Trump actively spread false information about the 2020 election outcome – what has become known as the “big lie” – in the run up to the Jan. 6 insurrection. In the year since its creation, the committee has conducted more than 1,000 interviews, seeking critical information and documents from people witness to, or involved in, the violence that day.
